What is Base44?
Base44 is a vibe coding platform that lets you build apps and websites without any coding experience. It turns your ideas into fully functional products, handling structure, design, and logic for you.

You describe what you want in plain English. Base44 builds it. You refine through conversation. You deploy.
Base44 was acquired by Wix in June 2025 for approximately $80 million — which matters because it means the platform has serious resources behind it and isn’t going anywhere. It’s used by over 400,000 users and has an active development roadmap.
The recent addition of Superagents takes it a step further. Superagents are autonomous AI agents you build by describing tasks in natural language — they handle tasks like user interactions, content updates, and operational processes so your product doesn’t just exist, it actively works and evolves over time.
Getting Started — First Ten Minutes
The onboarding is genuinely smooth. No tutorial walls. No lengthy setup. You land on a dashboard with a prompt box and a few starter suggestions — Reporting Dashboard, Gaming Platform, Onboarding Portal — and you just start describing.
Base44 opens with an Idea Library — choose a category like Travel, Home Management, or Finance, and Base44 seeds your prompt with a complete use case. There’s also a styling system where adding a single word like “claymorphism” or “glassmorphism” injects the right design hints automatically.
I tested it by building a content tracking tool for my blog — post titles, publication dates, traffic metrics, affiliate performance. One description, fairly detailed. Base44 generated the full application including UI, database schema, and user authentication.
A build log in the left panel ticked through tasks like Generate schema, Create routes, and Seed data — so I could see exactly what the AI was doing. There’s also a Discuss Mode where you can chat with the AI architect before committing to code, adjusting logic or asking questions without spending credits.
The result after ten minutes was legitimately impressive. Not a mock up. A working deployed application.
Core Features
AI App Generation
Base44 sets up the UI, data model, and authentication for you. You don’t have to build databases, logins, or backend services. You describe what you want, and Base44 generates a working prototype.

The generation quality is high for standard application types — dashboards, CRMs, task managers, customer portals, internal tools. More unusual or complex requirements need more specific prompting and more iteration credits.
Superagents
The newest feature and genuinely interesting. Superagents are hassle-free — no Docker, no servers, no setup. They run tasks and automations for you 24/7, handle tasks, send updates, and react automatically. They remember goals, preferences, and context, and live where you are — working in WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, and your browser.

For small business owners who want automated workflows without hiring a developer or paying for complex automation tools — this is worth paying attention to.
Integrations
Integration credits are used when a user of the app takes an action requiring the app to leverage integrations. These include LLMs, file uploading, image understanding, image generation, email sending, SMS sending, database querying, and many more.

The integration library from the screenshots covers Stripe, Salesforce, Slack, Notion, Google Calendar, Google Drive and Gmail as OAuth connectors — plus a broader library of API connections. For most business tool use cases the integrations cover what you need.
Visual Editor
The visual editor lets you click on components to change text, colors, and layout after generation. This makes quick visual tweaks easy without re-generating the entire app.
GitHub Sync
Available on Builder plan and above. The GitHub export already shows early signs of openness — meaning you can take what Base44 built and continue development in tools like Cursor or VS Code if you outgrow the platform. This is significant because it means you’re not permanently locked in.
Mobile App Creation
Base44 now supports mobile app creation and publication — build and publish native mobile apps and deploy directly to iOS and Android from the Base44 platform.
Pricing — The Full Breakdown
This is where you need to pay attention because Base44 uses a two-credit system that confuses a lot of new users.
Two Types of Credits:
Message credits — spent when you ask the AI to build or change your app. Every prompt costs credits.
Integration credits — spent when users of your app interact with integrations like sending emails, calling an AI, uploading files.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Messages | Integration Credits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 25/month | 500 |
| Starter | $20 | $16 | 100/month | 2,000 |
| Builder | $40 | $28 | 250/month | 10,000 |
| Pro | $80 | $56 | 500/month | 20,000 |
| Elite | $160 | $112 | 1,200/month | 50,000 |
Most users hit the free ceiling within one to two days of building. That’s not a knock — it’s just reality. The free plan is for testing the concept, not building seriously.
The Builder plan is the sweet spot for most users. The 250 message credits are enough to build and maintain two to three apps actively. The 10,000 integration credits can support a small user base. The GitHub integration lets you export your code and continue development in other tools if you outgrow Base44’s AI builder.
One thing worth knowing — credits do not roll over. Your allocation resets each billing cycle. Plan your usage accordingly.
What I Actually Built
Over two weeks I built three projects on Base44:
A content performance dashboard for tracking blog metrics — built in one session, worked reliably for basic data entry and retrieval.
A simple CRM for tracking outreach contacts — generated cleanly with user authentication included. Took about 20 minutes of prompting and iteration.
A client portal mockup — more complex, hit some friction on conditional logic but got there with specific prompting over three sessions.
The pattern that emerges is consistent with what other reviewers have found. Simple to medium complexity applications generate cleanly and work reliably. Complex applications require more prompting precision and more credits.
Pros and Cons
What genuinely impressed me: ✅ Generates working apps with real databases and authentication — not just UI mock ups ✅ Wix acquisition means serious resources and long-term stability ✅ Superagents add genuine autonomous workflow capability ✅ GitHub export means you’re not permanently locked in ✅ Discuss Mode lets you plan without burning credits ✅ Visual editor for post-generation tweaks ✅ Mobile app creation and deployment ✅ Broad integration library covering major business tools ✅ Free plan with no credit card required
What frustrated me: ❌ Free tier credits disappear quickly — expect to upgrade sooner than you think ❌ Works well for prototypes but not always reliable for production at scale ❌ Two credit types is confusing initially — message credits and integration credits behave differently ❌ Data ownership may complicate future migration away from the platform ❌ Complex prompts require precise coaching when something breaks ❌ No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification for compliance-sensitive use cases ❌ Credits don’t roll over — unused credits are lost each month
Who Should Use Base44?
Base44 makes the most sense for:
Solo makers and small teams who want a functional prototype by tonight and will worry about edge cases tomorrow.
Founders validating ideas who need something to show investors before committing to real development resources.
Marketers and non-technical business owners who need custom internal tools — dashboards, trackers, simple CRMs — without hiring a developer.
Agencies building client-facing prototypes where visual polish matters for presentations and demos.
Anyone currently paying for multiple SaaS tools that could be replaced by a single custom application built on Base44.
Base44 probably doesn’t make sense for:
Teams that need production-grade reliability at scale with compliance guarantees.
Builders who need predictable credit usage — heavy AI feature apps can burn through integration credits faster than expected.
Organizations requiring SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification.
Base44 vs The Competition
| Base44 | Bubble | Replit | Lovable | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No-code | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ | ✅ |
| AI generation | ✅ | Partial | ✅ | ✅ |
| Free plan | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
| GitHub export | ✅ Builder+ | ❌ | ✅ | ✅ |
| Superagents | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ | ❌ |
| Mobile apps | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ |
| Backing | Wix ($80M) | Independent | Independent | Independent |
| Starting price | $16/mo | $29/mo | $20/mo | $20/mo |
Base44 feels like the Squarespace of AI app builders — convenient, polished, and genuinely capable for most use cases without the complexity of more developer-oriented alternatives.
Final Verdict
For rapid prototyping, internal tools, and idea validation — Base44 is genuinely impressive. The ten minute app claim is real. The quality for standard business applications is high. The Superagents feature adds capability that most competitors don’t have.
The catch I mentioned at the start is the credit system and the production scaling question. Base44 generates impressive-looking apps fast. But for ops teams, support teams, and SMBs building employee portals, inventory trackers, CRMs, or other business software that needs long-term stability — prepare to spend time dealing with errors at extra costs as you scale.
Start with the free plan. Build something. See if the output quality and workflow fits what you’re trying to do. The Builder plan at $28/month on annual billing is where most serious users land — it’s the first tier that gives you everything needed to go from idea to launched product.
At $480 per year, that’s a fraction of the cost of traditional development. For the right use case that math is hard to argue with.
Overall Rating: 4.4/5 ⭐
